Do you Know what this Is?

The last year I have been deeply burdened that many “Christians” that I meet don’t even live by Christian morals.  You talk to them and you hear their belief system and I was shocked to listen to what they had to say.  Everybody goes to heaven, God doesn’t send anyone to hell, all good people to go heaven, it’s ok to live with your boyfriend, it’s ok to have an abortion.  The list just goes on and on, and surprisingly enough most of these people went to Church every week.  I talked from teenagers all the way up to 50 year olds and I was hearing the most astonishing things.  You might be saying to yourself, “Jess, you are judging”, let me tell you something, the bible says to look at the fruit of someone’s life.  An apple tree bears apples, an orange tree produces oranges, a christian should be producing Christians.  If people aren’t being affected for Jesus by your influence, then I don’t think you are producing good fruit.  I’m starting to chase a rabbit trail, but it all goes back to the fundamental truth, where do christian morals come from.  What is the standard that Christians are suppose to live by.  It’s easy, It’s in the Bible.  But you know, I ask these people that have these views and quote scripture to them and they reply, “Oh, that isn’t in there, where is that at.”  I ask them where do you derive at the answers you gave me?  They tell me, “From life experiences, or from others.”

The problem is, is that Christians aren’t reading there bible!

Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey my commands.” John 14:15  (NASB)

The problem is, we don’t know how to truly love God, because we don’t even know what his commands are.  We don’t read his word, and not only read it, but LIVE IT!  God has been been burning this in my heart.  One of our first series that we do at Broadcast will be called “LIVE IT”.  God challenged me with something this summer.  To read the bible in 90 days, cover to cover!  I know many of you will say I’m just reading it to fast, but when you read it together it reminds you of the stories and then how God put it all together.  I know it’s not written in chronological order, but there is something about reading God’s word and just letting him talk to you, instead of dissecting every line or sentence.  Will you start this journey with me?
