Lives being changed

One of the core reasons I felt led to plant a Church was to see lives changed. I had been apart of ministries that achieved this, but I knew God wanted me to come here (Chesapeake/Va. Beach) to plant a Church that presented the gospel that reached a young generation for Jesus. Not one that just talk about the gospel, but really LIVE the Gospel.

When you really LIVE the gospel it confronts everything that culture tells you is right. In our Life Groups we have been going through the book of James and also the Truth Project. Both of these studies have challenged us to confront “sin” or “lies” in our lives or culture. This is NOT easy. LIVING this usually goes against our fleshly and worldly desires. Living God’s TRUTH which is only found in Jesus and his Word is hard.

That is why Prayer and Church is so important. To live this out, we have to learn to call what is evil, evil and call what is good, good. We can only do this when we ask God to give us HIS eyes. Prayer enables us to ask and seek God. The Holy Spirit can reveal things in our hearts and the closer you look, the more “messed” up it seems. Sometimes you feel like you will NEVER be good enough. God’s GRACE is enough! Jesus is ENOUGH. That is where the Church comes in. The Church is here to HELP you through this life journey. The Church can give you encouragement and wisdom. A friendly voice, an encouraging word. God’s truth and his love is what the Church is all about. Church is where you come together to do LIFE with others who want to worship God and grow closer to him. That is why the Bible tells us to worship him in “Sprit and in Truth”.

People are being changed. I’m hoping to be able to share some of the stories that I’m hearing at BC. People saying that, “they haven’t felt God in years” and when they came to BC they finally felt God again. People are being confronted with lifestyles and “running” towards Jesus. We have seen 3 people saved and 4 people flood the altar last week. We ended the service by worshiping together at the altar. If that doesn’t get you pumped, then I don’t know what will.

I’m so excited to be a part of what God is doing. God is moving and people are being transformed into his image. Thanks for allowing me to serve with all of you and to lead this Church. I want you to know that I’m submitted to whatever the Lord has for BC.

Love you all,

Pastor Jess
