Online Bible Study (Week 2)

jwatr_flash_placeholder1Chapter 2

P. 35  ”The only thing you need in order to sustain an effective approach to evangelism year after year after year is an ear fine-tuned to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.”

P.36 “Staying attuned to the Spirit means I have a heightened awareness of the things going on around me.”

***When was the last time you stuck your hand out and said, “Hi, my name is _________What’s your name?”  Doing this with the intent on listening on how you could help this person spiritually?

Action Point:  Pray each morning: “My life is in your hands, God.  Use me to point someone toward you today — I promise to cooperate in any way I can.  If you want me to say a word for you today, I’ll do that.  IF you want me to keep quiet but demonstrate love and servanthood, by your Spirit’s power I will.  I’m fully available to you today, so guide me by your Spirit.”

Read P. 38 “Let the Spirit Lead”

-this is important to note that not all the time will God open a door.  The Key is to be willing!

Action point:  Start to ask God where you can “plant seeds” in your home, at work, or with family that don’t know you.”

***Make a list of people you know don’t attend Church or know the Lord.  If there aren’t at least 5 people on this list.  Try to think of something you could do, to engage with Non-Christian people.  Christians need to get out of their “Spiritual bubble”.

Chapter 3

Living in 3D (Page 60)

Develop Friendships – by engaging in the lives of people around them

Discover stories - before sharing their own story and God’s redemptive story

Discern next steps – by following the Holy Spirit’s direction

***Most christians will agree that they want to see people come to know Christ as their savior.  But very few will ever share their faith or story with them.

P. 64 “God did not create humans in order to give himself companionship. Quite the opposite: He gave life out of Love. Friends, true love cannot be contained–it must spill over”

Action Point: On page 67 you read “Jesus had a corner on the potential market.  He had an uncanny ability to look past the obvious flaws in people’s lives and envision who they could become if the power of God were released in their lives”  What obvious flaws — or “withered parts” did you have before coming to Christ?

Action:  Right down 3 things  and possibly dates that you could start or be apart of that could help create bridges to start relationships. (example: block parties, non-threatening envirionments to help start relationship)
